Russell Williams

Russell is a graduate (with honours ) form Camp Williams 2 & 3 . He is a committed shooter of the 1911, and plans to add a Colt or Kimber to his quiver in 2011. He enjoyed shooting uncle Cams Gunsite tuned Colt Commander in previous years. Ask Russell - why the hype about Camp Williams events?

" Simple: you have classy students and instructors converging in Price, UT at an exclusive range. The students are intensely focused on training drills and techniques as they build the necessary skill to complete life or death simulation scenarios. Students from every walk of life become warriors"

Carter Reed - instruction staff

I'm new to Camp Williams but have been shooting with Cam for many years.  I recently retired as a Geologist with after 31 years in the trenches.  With more leisure time, I got back into action shooting last year after a twelve-year hiatus when we formed the Castle Action Shooting League (CASL).

I originally started shooting competitively in 1990 when I joined the USPSA/IPSC.  I became a Certified USPSA Range Officer and ran sanctioned IPSC matches in Price for over five years as the USPSA Liaison Officer and occasional Range Master.  I practiced a lot and studied the shooting techniques of the top competition/tactical shooters.  In the mid and late 90s this paid off and I started placing near the top in local and out of state matches.  I shot in matches with the FBI, Border Patrol, U.S. Army, and other law enforcement agencies as well as with some of the top competitive shooters in the country.  This was often a humbling experience but helped me become a better shooter.  In 1995 I took 2nd place in the Colorado Goforit Steel Match.  In 1996 I won the Southern Utah Pistol and Revolver Championship (Dixie Cup).  In 1997 I won the Utah State IPSC Championship, placed 8th overall in the Rocky Mountain Stock Gun Championship, and placed 2nd in the Las Vegas IPSC Combat Handgun Match.
I shot some matches early in the 1998 season but all of a sudden shooting became more like work and less like fun.  I intended to lay-off for just the rest of the season but found myself pursuing other interests.

My current favorite leisure activity is touring the west with my wife, Georgene, on our Harley.

"Uncle Charlie" Horn Bio

CW2 in April 2008 was my introduction to Action Shooting.  I shot my first USPSA match in May 2008.

I'm lucky to have three USPSA clubs within 50 miles.  Check them out at http://utahshooters.org/

I shot my Glock 34 (9mm) for one year.  I purchased a Glock 35 (.40 S&W) and started shooting it in May 2009.

I attended a two-day NROI class in January 2009 to earn my Level I (Range Officer) Certification.  I'm currently taking the Level II (Chief Range Officer) Correspondence Course.

Todd Williams

One of the original participants of CW1 and very pleased to be asked back each year. The education that we have from these camps is invaluable. I live about 20 km (12 mi) from the forestry where we set up and do some shooting. Currently dusting off and adding to my reloading equipment and enjoying crafting ammo.

For protection here in the great white north I have a 12ga Mossberg 590a  and a 20ga Mossberg 500. Carbine is a Ruger Mini 14. Due to its innocuous look it is not listed as restricted in our Canadian gun legislation. No handguns as of yet but that will be changing in the near future.

The rules here are:
non-restricted weapons (anything that looks like it would be used on a duck or deer) we can shoot anyplace that we have permission and it is safe to do so.
restricted weapons (all handguns and some specific other weapons like any AR-15 platform long guns) We must get a permit to travel to a range and we are only to discharge them at a recognized range.
Not all that handy but we can make it work.

Gregg McKee Bio

I met Todd Williams some 21 years ago in a small town in Eastern Nebraska where we became good friends We've trained together, worked together and hopefully can continue getting together for these shooting projects.
We shot CW 1 back a few years ago and tried to convince Charley to join us. He declined because he didn't know what we were getting into. I really didn't either but have enjoyed it ever since.

I shoot a Glock 22 (40 cal) with a few tricks in USPSA limited class. I have a range behind my house with a plate rack, 4 poppers, 3 steel falling plates, and 10 target stands.  Learning from Gunny has been a great experience. Safe gun handling training never gets old and I always learn from him.

My second passion is my boat. It takes up most of my free time, esp in the summer, but not restricted to good weather.

Camp Williams 2 vid

Remember to bring enough ammo !

I can't tell on the preview if this will play - here it comes!

WELCOME TO CAMP WILLIAMS 4 !

Please - for those of you new to the phrase - do not confuse this 'Camp Williams' with the actual military base located at the point of the mountain - just south of Salt Lake City. This 'Camp Williams' is an event- not a location.

About ten years ago I got together with my brother Todd and his buddy/business partner Gregg McKee and went out to the local range to shoot pistols. The next I know I am having calls and e-mails from Gregg about when I am going to hold 'Camp Williams 2' !!!

Last year we held 'Camp Williams 3' at the North Springs Range here near Price - focusing on the tactical use of the shotgun. Last year we invited more friends than Todd has - specifically Dr. David Nichols and some of his family, Dr. Travis Engar and his father Charlie, "uncle Charlie" Horn and Russell Williams.

This year we expect more visitors from Missouri - maybe by the time we are done we will be doing a re-creation of the Mountain Meadows Massacre!

We will return to the defensive use of the handgun this year with emphasis on close quarters and after dark / flashlight technique.
